This important tourist centre is located only a few kilometres away from Ciudatella. Cala Galdana stretches along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, in the municipality of Ferreries.
Cala Galdana is one of the most emblematic urbanized beaches of Menorca. Before the tourism boom of the 60s, this cove of fine white sand bathed by crystalline waters, was one of the island's most popular places. However, like many other virgin sites of the island, the area didn't escape the urbanization fever of the seventies. Today, it's a resorts with a well-developed infrastructure, including hotels and many other services. The many restaurants, music bars and shows in the area yearly attract thousands of tourists, who enjoy the variety of recreational activities and accommodation. The wide horseshoe shaped beach (with a length of 460 meters and 28 meters width), is bordered by high cliffs which protect it from the wind. It boasts a spectacular scenery with the rocky silhouette of the Algendar ravine flowing into the beach. Other coves, such as Mitjana and Trabalúger give space for even more discovery in this coastal area.
This is the most popular beach on the southern coast of Ciutadella among tourist families. Besides providing all the facilities one may need, several beachfront hotels and even a small marina, it has great waters and views, that seduce anyone!
